Learn to ski tour in the spectacular setting of the Chamonix Valley

Explore the Chamonix valley away from the crowded pistes.

This course has been carefully designed by Robbie Fenlon for skiers who what to learn the skills needed to ski tour. In particular this intensive course offers valuable insight and training for any skiers thinking of embarking on the famous Chamonix to Zermatt Haute Route.

During this course you will become familiar with the equipment needed for ski touring, and how to use it. You will learn how to use avalanche transceivers, how to read different snow conditions and how to move as safely as possible around snow laden slopes.

We believe that ski touring is the ultimate mountain sport. We hope that this course will open the door for you to many exciting mountain adventures.

Outline Itinerary

Day 1- You will meet you guide and group in Le Tour. The day will be spent learn touring techniques and using them on a few short tours in the area.

Day 2- Today you will ski off the Aiguille du Midi and tour up to the Col d'Entreves on the Italian border. The day will end by skiiing a variation of the Valley Blanche.

Day 3 - Now you will put all the skills you have learnt over the past few days to the test with the Classic Crochue Berard Traverse



Optional 2 Day Extension – Mountain Hut Trip in Italy or Switzerland

This course is designed so that clients can choose to join for 3 of 5 days to suit your needs. For those of you who think you will enjoy the above 3 days and have more time to extend your trip we offer this 2 day extension. This will involve touring to and spending the night at a mountain hut.

We do not have a fixed itinerary for these two days as being flexible to suit the weather and snow conditions is essential. We also want to be able to choose the destination with the group’s abilities and ambitions in mind.
