Develop your ski touring and mountain safety techniques while surrounded by endless spectacular mountain and dramatic deep fjords.

Course Description

Have you ever dreamt of touring high up into the mountains to ski perfect powder all the way down to the shores of deep fjords. If so this is the trip for you.

Carefully designed and developed by our guides Robbie Fenlon and Linus Kulstad, this is a week focused on skiing miles of steep powder while developing your ability to be safe and confident ski touring in all conditions.

Throughout the week, with the aid of one of our UIAGM qualified Guides, you will focus on a range of topics such as safe travel, avalanche awareness, transceiver use, and map reading. You will experience exactly why the Sunnmore Alps are so widely renowned for their ski touring and free ride terrain.

Outline Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrive in Alesund Airport, drive for 2 hrs to Saebø, where the chalet is situated on the banks of the Hjorund fjord. Depending on arrival time, evening ski session at the local ski slope (Orsta Skisenter) to get your ski legs ready for the week  

Day 2 - Breakfast at 7am. Short drive over a spectacular pass to the Auste Fjord. Park and put the skis on for a spectacular 1300m climb to the summit of Eidskyrkja (1482m).  

Day 3 - Breakfast at 7am. 5min drive to the Kvistaddalen Valley around the corner from our chalet. Skin up to the summit of Skarasalen 1542m, from were you will have a magnificent view. Ski down 1300m to the shores of the fjord and get the ferry back around to Soebo.  

Day 4 - 7am start nonetheless as we head off towards Kvanndalsvatnet, where we will concentrate on transceiver work and spend some time practising more complicated scenarios. If snow conditions are good, we will hike up to the summit of Grothornet.  

Day 5 - 7am breakfast and into the cars for a short drive south to the base of Sunndalsnipa which is an imposing 1395m peak which gives access to some great steep skiing.  

Day 6 - Last day on the hill. 7am breakfast and drive over to Ramoen. 1419m which is a long committing climb followed by a spectacular descent with a continuous backdrop of fjord and mountains.  

Day 7 - Pack up and get driven to the airport… and start planning next year's ski-touring holiday!
