How your experience helps rewilding efforts

By being part of the Rewilding Velebit network, we contribute to restoring Velebit's natural ecosystems, supporting biodiversity, and fostering a sustainable future for both nature and local communities. Using "Leave No Trace" principles we educate the public on sustainable outdoor practices, emphasizing the importance of minimizing human impact on nature. Through creative activities and outdoor learning experiences, participants gain insights into the biological and cultural values of the area, which enhances their awareness and behavior concerning nature preservation. By integrating historical education with environmental awareness we support the development of a balanced relationship between biodiversity conservation and the socio-economic needs of local communities.

From Zadar: The journey is around 1 hour by car, mainly via the D1 road. Buses from Zadar to Gospić also run several times a day. From Split: Driving takes approximately 3–3.5 hours via the A1 and D1 roads. Bus connections are available but may require a transfer in Zadar or another town. Once in Gospić, you can continue to Velebit trailheads, mountain huts or national park entrances either on your own or with our pickup service, allowing you to relax while we take you directly to your destination. Please note: If you choose to travel on your own the roads are generally well-maintained, but some mountain routes can be narrow and winding, so please drive carefully. ⚠️ TIPS & PRACTICAL INFO Weather: Velebit weather changes quickly.
