Itinerary
Day 1: Settle in by the lake
Arrive in Skinnskatteberg and make your way to your lakeside guesthouse base. Check in, unpack, and let the pace drop. In the evening, enjoy dinner and optional sauna time — then sleep well, close to forest and water.
Day 2: Canoeing and moose at dusk
After breakfast, meet your guide and head out on the lake. Paddle calm waters and stop on an island for a picnic lunch. The afternoon is yours for swimming, resting, or exploring near the guesthouse. Later as evening settles, head into prime moose habitat with your guide, with an outdoor dinner by the fire.
Day 3: Forest discoveries and beavers by boat
Visit a real Swedish forest: tracks and signs, small details that reveal wildlife, and seasonal discoveries like edible berries. Lunch is enjoyed outdoors.
In the evening, head out for a beaver boat safari with your guide — cruising slowly along the shoreline at the best time of day to look for beavers — with dinner as part of the experience.
Day 4: Departure
Enjoy a slow morning and breakfast, then check out and transfer back to Skinnskatteberg for your onward journey.

Difficulty
Easy. No previous experience is needed, but you’ll be hiking off trail so a general fitness is required.
Recommended ages are 6–14, but younger children can work well depending on attention span and your family’s pace. Tell us your children’s ages when you enquire and we’ll advise honestly.
- Will we see moose and beavers?
Wildlife is wild, so sightings can’t be guaranteed, but most of the time we do see them.
- How much walking is involved?
Very little. Walks are short and slow-paced, focused on discovery rather than distance. You’re outdoors daily, but this is not a hiking trip.
- Is this suitable for younger children than 6?
Recommended ages are 6–14, but younger children can work well depending on attention span and your family’s pace. Tell us your children’s ages when you enquire and we’ll advise honestly.
- Do we need any special skills for canoeing?
No. The paddling is calm and family-friendly. You’ll receive a short safety briefing and buoyancy vests are provided.
- What happens if the weather is bad?
We adjust the plan to keep it safe and enjoyable. Bring layers and rain protection, and we’ll make the best of the conditions.
- What time do we need to arrive on Day 1?
Arrival is flexible, but plan to reach the guesthouse in time for dinner. If you arrive earlier, you can swim, rest, or explore on your own.
- Is this trip private for our family?
Yes. This is a private family trip booked on request, for up to 7 guests.
- How much is guided — and how much is on your own?
On the main activity days, a guide is with you for the key experiences (canoeing, moose watching, forest walk, and the beaver boat safari). In between, you have plenty of free time to swim, rest, explore near the guesthouse, or take the day at your own pace. Arrival and departure days are flexible and mostly on your own.
